New Year's Eve Dinner in Orvieto: How to reach us
If you’re coming from the Autostrada del Sole A1, take the Orvieto exit and follow the local signs to the city center (approximately 4.5 km from the exit).
Orvieto is located about one hour by car from Rome and one hour and 45 minutes from Florence. It is also one hour from the Umbrian cities of Terni and Perugia and less than an hour from Viterbo.
Another main route is the E45 expressway (coming from Perugia-Assisi). Near Todi, take the “Orvieto-Todi” exit and follow State Road 71, which runs along Lake Corbara, reaching Orvieto in about 30 minutes.
Other major Umbrian destinations, such as Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio, Spoleto, and Terni, are accessible via the E45 expressway. Lastly, you can also reach Orvieto via State Road Cassia (from Viterbo-Rome), which descends from the Buonviaggio-Villanova area with a particularly scenic route. Along this route, you’ll find a rest stop called the “Belvedere of Orvieto.”
Orvieto is located on the Rome-Florence-Milan railway line, making it easily accessible by train.
The Orvieto railway station was one of the first in central Italy and is still well connected to the cities of Rome and Florence, which can be reached in approximately 1 hour and 2 hours, respectively.”
More information on urban and intercity routes from other areas of Umbria or Lazio can be found on the websites of the regional transport companies, Busitalia (Umbria) and Cotral (Lazio).
The urban and intercity bus station is located in Piazzale Matteotti (in front of the train station and next to the valley station of the funicular), while the parking for tourist buses (paid, €45.00 per day) is located in Piazza della Pace (below the train station). Regulations and more information for tourist buses can be found here.
